Jericoacoara

“Jeri” is a small place about 300 km north of Cumbuco and it has been declared “one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world” by the Washington Post Magazine. Te village offers a relaxed, hippy-ish atmosphere and facilities are fairly modest here. The streets are unpaved and lighting is mainly done by the moon and stars.
Apart from a fairly large member of pousadas there are several restaurants where the food is delicious. At night you can dance the Forro in the bars. Jeri lies in a magnificent, protected dune-area with several deep-blue freshwater lagoons. Locals and visitors alike climb the dunes every day to watch the sun set into the sea. Because of the special location of Jeri you can watch the sun rise from the sea on the other side of the village the net day!
There are several things you can do in Jeri. You can have beautiful walks or ride a horse along the beach or amongst the dunes, for instance to the rock formation Pedra Furada or at the Lagoas Azul e Paraiso.
Furthermore you can learn Capoeira (the local martial art), make buggy tours, go sand boarding and above windsurfing. This is one of the best locations for windsurfing in Brazil.
To get there you will need a 4-wheel drive for the last 15 kilometres. You can organise your transport (minibuses of taxis) from neighbouring Jijoca you can hire a 4–wheel drive yourself. You will need about three days for a visit to Jeri. If you are interested, we can organise a trip per car or even a light plane for you.
